Shoulder Pain Chiropractor

When you experience shoulder pain, it can vary in the type of pain you have. This can range from a dull ache, to sharp pain, or even clicking. Regardless of the type of shoulder pain you experience, it is important to consult with your Perth Chiropractor to diagnose the origin of your shoulder pain and decide the best course of action. 

The location of your shoulder pain can give your Perth Chiropractor a good idea as to which underlying structures may be irritated or injured. Along with this location your Perth Chiropractor will want to know about any symptoms that accompany. This could include neck pain, numbness / pain down one or both your arms, or other symptoms that may not be traditionally musculoskeletal symptoms.

Shoulder Pain Causes


Shoulder pain can be caused by various problems. The most common cause of shoulder pain is Subacromial Pain Syndrome (SAPS). This condition generally occurs pressure or friction increases in the Subacromial space at the front of the shoulder. What results is in increase in inflammation and the potential for tendinopathy to develop with the adjacent muscles of the rotator cuff. Subacromial Pain Syndrome (SAPS). Poor shoulder biomechanics with or without excessive overhead movement can lead to the development of SAPS.

As we just mentioned shoulder pain can also be due to rotator cuff tendinopathy. SAPS does not have to be present for rotator cuff tendinopathy to occur. Tendinopathy on a cellular structure is when there is increased breakdown of collagen, resulting in the tendon to have a reduction in flexibility and range of motion. Tendinopathy does not only occur in the shoulder. It can occur in many other structures within the body, and our Perth Chiropractors treat tendon pain and associated Tendinopathy on a regular basis. 

Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) and a Labral tear are the other potential causes of front shoulder pain. These diagnosis are not nearly as common as the previously mentioned, however will always be considered by our Perth Chiropractors. The origin of of frozen shoulder is not well understood but there appears to be between a recent injury, such as a labral tear, with the addition of the patient having diabetes.

Shoulder Pain Treatment

When you consult with our Perth Chiropractors for shoulder pain, the Chiropractic treatment relies on identifying the cause of your shoulder pain. Once our Perth Chiropractors have done this, they are able able to utilise any combination of soft tissue techniques, which could include dry needling or myofascial cupping. In addition to this they may decide to include Chiropractic joint manipulations and/or injury rehabilitation exercises. The combination of the above therapies utilised to to treat shoulder pain will again rely on the origin of your shoulder pain.
