Given that Neck Pain is generally multi-factorial we have included some tips to prevent neck pain below. When you consult with our Perth Chiropractors for Neck pain however, it is likely that they will prescribe some neck pain exercises and stretches for you. These will be custom and specific to your condition. In the mean time, here are some general tips for you!
Avoid Prolonged Periods of Sustained Postures
Are you concerned about maintaining "correct posture?" There good news is generally speaking there is no "correct posture." The best postural advice we can give our patients is to NOT maintain the same posture for extended periods of time. If you try to maintain the same posture for an extended period of time, rather than alternating postures, it is very likely you will experience increased levels of lower back pain. This is one of the main tips for neck pain our experienced Perth Chiropractors will offer.
Movement is the key to life right? Whilst many patients are looking for specific exercises to treat neck pain, on the most part general exercise will suffice. We also have some bad news for the workoholics out there, work does count as exercise. Whilst exercise aims to decrease blood pressure, heart rate and stress, work does the opposite. So unfortunately you will need to find some time in your day for targeted Physical Activity, also known as exercise. Stress Management Techniques
Have ever noticed how neck pain always seems to strike when we have so many other things going on life? It's funny that isn't it. Well stress is actually underestimated as a contributing factor of neck pain. Patient's can carry stress in many different ways. Many of which can affect our spinal health and contribute to spinal pain. Whilst our Perth Chiropractors understand that stress can never be totally eliminated, implementing stress management techniques are definitely advantageous. For some people this is exercise, others it is reading a book or even using breathing techniques.
