What is Reformer Pilates?

A Pilates Reformer is a great cross training piece of exercise equipment. It varies from mat based pilates, through the use of a Pilates Reformer, a dynamic piece of Pilates equipment. A reformer traditionally looks like  a bed with springs, a sliding carriage, a stable platform, foot bar and ropes with straps. Generally speaking Reformer Pilates aims to improve core stabilisation, peripheral joint stability, balance / coordination, as well as muscular strength and endurance. Pilates Reformers traditionally have 5 springs, and can be used in various combinations, to allow sessions to be catered for patients of all fitness levels.

Your First Pilates Session

At Harrisdale Chiropractic, we begin with a thorough initial assessment to collect information on your past injury and medical history, any current issues and activity levels. From this information we will be able to design a customised program to suit your health needs. For your Reformer Pilates sessions please wear comfortable loose fitting clothing or activewear. Please also bring a water bottle and gym towel.
